PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS WORKSHOP
If you
live in and are the owner of a home, condominium or cooperative apartment
(co-op), you may qualify for hundreds of dollars in property tax savings each
year.
To help you file for or learn more about the property tax exemptions for which you may be eligible, Senator Hannon and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano have partnered to bring the Department of Assessment office operations to the Bethpage Library (47 Powell Avenue, Bethpage) on Tuesday, October 14, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Equipped
with specially configured computers linked to the County’s database, the
Department of Assessment will process property tax exemption applications for
the following:

Property Tax Exemption

Senior
Citizens Property Tax Exemption
·
Cold
War Veterans Property Tax Exemption
·
Volunteer
Firefighters & Ambulance Workers Property Tax Exemption
·
Limited
Income Disability Property Tax Exemption
·
Home
Improvement Tax Exemption
In
addition, Nassau County home, condominium and cooperative owners are eligible
for two types of STAR (School Tax Relief) exemptions – Basic STAR (for residents who own and live in their home, condo or
co-op with an annual household income of $500,000 or less) and Enhanced STAR (for senior citizens aged
65 years and older with annual incomes of $83,300 or less).
Homeowners
who will be filing for any of these exemptions can help expedite the processing
of their application by bringing extra copies of any documentation that is
required for the property tax exemption for which he or she is applying. Applications and specific documentation
requirements are available on the Department of Assessment website at www.mynassauproperty.com.
