Senator Kemp Hannon
6th District New York
1/17 - FREE Flu Shot - Cradle of Aviation Museum (10 am - 1 pm AND 5 pm - 8pm)

As you are no doubt aware, the flu season has been one of the most severe in years, with almost 20,000 confirmed cases in New York State as of last week – nearly three times the number at this same time last year.  Since the beginning of the new year, over 1,100 New Yorkers were hospitalized with the flu – up 55% from the previous week.

Due to the severity of the season and the increase in numbers affected by the flu, I’m pleased to inform you I’ve partnered with Nassau University Medical Center to provide all residents who pre-register by E-mail with a no out-of-pocket flu shot.  The shots will be given out this Thursday, January 17 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at:

One Davis Avenue, Garden City

No appointments are required and flu shots will be given on a first come/first serve basis, but you must register! There is no "out of pocket" expense for this. Flu shots will be given out to all adults age 18 and older!

It is not too late to get your flu shot.  If you haven’t gotten the flu yet and you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet, you could still get it.  The sooner you get a flu shot, the more chance you’ll be protected against the flu this season.

According to the New York State Department of Health, “All people 6 months and older are recommended to receive an influenza vaccination each year.  The 2012-2013 flu vaccine will protect against three different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus.  Certain people are at ‘high risk’ of serious complications from seasonal influenza.  These include people 65 years and older, children younger than five years old, pregnant women, and people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions.”
