In conjunction with Governor Cuomo and the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), I am pleased to announce DFS will be making representatives available to answer insurance questions relating to Super Storm Sandy at the Farmingdale Public Library (116 Merritts Road, Farmingdale) on Thursday, December 13th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
DFS representatives will be able to meet with affected residents in their special Mobile Command Center and will offer help to homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by Sandy.
Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about homeowners’, renters’ and business owners’ insurance coverage.
Citizens who are unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the Department’s Storm Hotline at 800-339-1759 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends. Insurance information is also available on the Department’s website, www.dfs.ny.gov.
