Take Advantage of FREE Downloadable E-Books Today!

Electronic books, or “E-Books” are a tremendous new phenomenon, and many people are now downloading books to their personal computers, iPads, Kindles, Nooks and other portable devices.

I urge Nassau County residents to take advantage of numerous free downloadable books available via Internet download.

As the demand for E-book lending increases, the Long Island Library Resource Council (LILRC) has announced a number of web-based resources which provide free access to downloadable books:

· Project Gutenberg: One can download over 33,000 free E-books.  (http://www.gutenberg.org/)

· Free-e-booksnet: “the internet’s #1 online source for free ebook downloads.” (http://www.free-ebooks.net/)

· Get Free Books.com: A site that brings both authors and readers into the world of free E-books. (http://getfreeebooks.com/)

· Many Books. Net: More than 29,000 E-books available. (http://manybooks.net)

· University of Pennsylvania: Over 1,000,000 free books on the web. (http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books/)

· SmashWords: E-books from independent authors and publishers. (http://www.smashwords.com/)

· Internet Archive Text Archive: Contains a wide range of fiction, popular books, children’s books, historical texts and academic books. (http://www.archive.org/details/texts)

· Google Books: Nearly 3,000,000 free e-books and hundreds of thousands of titles for purchase. (http://books.google.com/ebooks)

Special thanks to the LILRC for providing this information.  I highly recommend you take advantage of these great resources today.
