TICK ALERT! Are you protected?

With the warmer weather now here, everyone wants to be outdoors… including the ticks. That’s why Senator Kemp Hannon is asking everyone to review his Tick Alert Checklist below.

“With a few simple precautions and a watchful eye, you and your family can feel free to hike, fish, camp and enjoy the backyard barbecue,” said Senator Hannon.

Senator Hannon’s Tick Alert Checklist

Stay in the center of trails and paths

         Avoid brushing up against vegetation

Wear light colored or tightly woven clothing so it’s easier to spot ticks

Use insect repellent, but sparingly, especially regarding repellents  containing DEET

Check yourself, your children and your pets frequently, as a tick bite isn’t painful and the tick in most cases drops off before anyone notices it
